ANNUAL TESTING, INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE
Annual testing, inspection and maintenance of a lightning protection system is crucial for ensuring that an existing lightning protection system remains in a serviceable condition, thus providing continued protection to the structure itself, along with the contents and occupants within. British Standard BS EN 62305 states that all lightning conductor and earth installations should be visually inspected at intervals not exceeding 11 months and that this work should be carried out by approved lightning protection specialists. This can be achieved by following the guidance laid out by the HSE who recommend the use of members of the Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists (ATLAS).

It is generally a requirement of building insurance providers that this work be completed in accordance with the British Standard by qualified Lightning & Earthing Specialists and an up to date certificate is in place at all times

Compliance
